Rubidium carbonate, Rb2CO3, White crystalline powder, is a convenient compound of rubidium; it is stable, not particularly reactive, Very soluble in water (strong hydrolysis of the anion), and is the form in which rubidium is usually sold. Molar mass: 230.945 g/mol, Melting point: 837 °C, Boiling point: 900 oC.
Applications: It is used in some kinds of glass-making by enhancing stability and durability as well as reducing its conductivity. It is also used as a part of a catalyst for preparing short-chain alcohols from feed gas.
A base material for preparation of various cesium compounds, also widely used in the catalyst, special glass and ceramics e.t.c
